While biofuels have been touted by some as an ideal replacement for fossil fuels, as so often happens, the situation is more complicated than it appears at first. There is a wide variety of methods and raw materials available for making the fuels; while some of the resulting products can cut greenhouse gas emissions, this isn’t necessarily the case when all factors are considered.
